Draadsculpturen - Wire sculptures (Fairy)

Geïnspireerd door de Wiresculptures van Fantasy Wire uit de UK, ben ik deze zomer begonnen aan mijn eerste Fairy (elfje). Hiervoor heb ik een Dragonfly (Libelle) uit draad gemaakt om te kijken waar je zoal tegen aan loopt. Om de elf, uit staaldraad met vleugels te maken, welke ook nog een paardenbloem vast houd, was best een uitdaging!. Ik heb eerst veel afbeeldingen op internet bekeken en een schets met krijt op de straat gemaakt om de verhoudingen van de elf goed te krijgen. Het frame heb ik gemaakt van staf ijzer rond 6 en 8 mm, gebogen en aan elkaar gevlochten met draad 2, en 3,4 mm dik. Hierna heb ik de Elf vormgegeven en afgewerkt met 2 en 1,2 mm dik draad. De bloem heb ik gemaakt ca. 40 stuks takjes/pluisjes van 1,2 en 0,8 mm draad. De elf heb ik op een bloem van koper gezet, op een pijp, zodat ze rond haar as kan draaien. Als laatste heb ik de elf bespoten met beschermende blanke lak. (Tectyl) en Chrome/Zilver spray.

Inspired by the Fantasy Wire Wires sculptures from the UK, I started my first Fairy this summer. Before this I have made a Dragonfly from wire to see what you encounter. To make the fairiy's, from steel wire with wings, which also hold a dandelion, was quite a challenge! I first viewed many images on the internet and made a sketch with chalk on the street to get the proportions of the Fairy right. I have made the frame of iron rods around 6 and 8 mm, bent and braided together with wire 2, and 3.4 mm thick. After this I designed and finished the Fairy with 2 and 1.2 mm thick wire. I have made the flower with about 40 pieces of twigs / fluff of 1.2 and 0.8 mm thread. I have placed the Fairy on a copper flower, on a pipe, so that she can turn around her axis. Finally, I sprayed the it with protective clearcoat. (Tectyl) and Chrome / Silver spray. See also my latest Fairy made out of stainles steel! Made in 2021.

This year I had my first client, normally i do not take orders, but it was for a good purpose!
I have build this new fairy out of stainlessteel (RVS). So it would not rust annymore! Made some copper leaves and butterflys to match!. See the pictures below. For more pictures and movies see my onther chapter Wire sculpture Fairy nr.4
